Timber Framing – The Return

timberframingNow here’s a twist in the construction business, wood is making a comeback for use in framing that is allowed for structures that are up to five stories high. As it turns out, newer more modern materials such as steel and concrete products have risen in prices so much that wood has again become an option. With the many tree farms now in their maturity stages, producers are only too glad to provide more timber for such use.
Timber has become one of the most versatile materials on earth where each and every part of the tree when it is harvested is put to good use. From leaves that go to the compost heap to wood chips that are used for compressed wood products, charcoal briquettes, fuel and many more, it has truly become a renewable resource as long as we maintain them and refrain from harvesting old growth forests that filters the air.Wood is natural and flexible, in times more flexible than steel and concrete able to handle more flexing structures experience during daily use.
